Support for Ukrainian Scholars and Concern about the Destruction of Ukrainian Cultural Heritage

The Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut expresses its solidarity with the people of Ukraine in light of the violent invasion of their country, and deplores the loss of and threat to life. The KHI also expresses its concern about the destruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage and the environment.

The KHI offers its support to art historians, heritage scholars and professionals at risk. Fellowships are available, also on a non-residential basis, adaptable to individual situations. Please get in touch at: sahar@khi.fi.it or use the established networks of collaboration.

In its concern about the destruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage (material and intangible), the KHI is ready to support the documentation, preservation, and protection of heritage at risk together with international partners.

The KHI also expresses its support to all those who, in Russia and Belarus, are raising their voices against this war.

As a member of the International Association of Research Institutes in the History of Art (RIHA) the KHI welcomes the initiatives of the RIHA Board. For more information you can write to rihaforukraine@gmail.com and consult the webpages of the single institutes for special programs.

The network Artists at Risk publishes a list-in-progress with emergency resources for artists and cultural workers .

The Association of German Art Historians provides information on current programmes to support scholars at risk (the list is being updated on a regular basis).
