Library Projects

The Library of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz has pursued the work of indexing in ways that go further and deeper than routine cataloguing, as well as the discipline-orientated analysis of its own holdings using innovative tools developed as required, for many years in different types of application. In terms of methodology, the Library thereby seeks to marry 21st-century librarianship with expertise in the areas of information science and art history. This work usually takes the form of project-based initiatives, in which the use of digital tools in database infrastructures plays a foreground role. Collaborations with other institutions and the involvement of external specialists have proved particularly beneficial.
