Online Exhibition
THE MÉTIERS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER Roberto Sigismondi
An online exhibition by the Photothek des Kunsthistorischen Instituts in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut
Roberto Sigismondi has been working as a photographer for more than 40 years. The Photothek of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz owns approximately 20,000 of his photographs of works of art and architecture that are also published in the Digital Library.
His works are included in several online exhibitions of the Institute like "The Cloister of Monreale", "Sculptures from the Boboli Garden", "Bartolomeo Ammannati" or last, "The Salerno Ivories – re-photographed", based on images taken during a 2015 photographic campaign.
Sigismondi's photographs are purchased by archives and photograph collections around the world. We can also see them in many publications by renowned scholars, collection catalogues and temporary exhibitions held in major museums.
However, there is more to the photographer specialized in art history than just a keen eye, mastery and many decades of experience. This exhibition's aim is to highlight the various stages of Roberto Sigismondi's career, his far-reaching interest in art and nature, his journalistic sense, and social commitment. The photographs on display, drawn from all the phases of his oeuvre, present the most important aspects of his work, a summary of his concept of photography and, above all, they reveal the dedication and passion of a multifaceted talent.
