Cultural Possessions, Berlin 2020: Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Copyright: Armin Linke.

Armin Linke is a German-Italian artist and photographer with a particular interest for infrastructures of knowledge production such as archives, museums, and image collections. In one of his current photo projects, which he realizes in cooperation with the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, the 4A_Lab and the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, he is working on an artistic and photographic examination of the archives, spaces, and stocks of the collections of Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin. His focus lies on the architecture of museums and archives, their exhibition spaces, displays, and infrastructures as well as the scientific documentations and the museological and archival practices. The project will result in a publication in cooperation with Hannah Baader (Head 4A_Lab) and possibly an exhibition. In the workshop, Armin Linke will present the project in the making together with Hannah Baader and discuss it with invited guests and the 4A_Lab Fellows.

Armin Linke is a photographer and filmmaker and lives in Berlin and Milan. Currently he is guest professor at ISIA, Urbina (IT) and artist in residence at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz. He was research affiliate at MIT Visual Arts Program Cambridge, guest professor at the IUAV Arts and Design University in Venice and professor for photography at the University for Arts and Design Karlsruhe. Linke combines a range of contemporary image-processing technologies in order to blur the borders between fiction and reality. His artistic practice is concerned with different possibilities of dealing with photographic archives and their respective manifestations, as well as with the interrelations and transformative powers between urban, architectural or spatial functions and the human beings interacting with these environments.

Armin Linke is artist in residence at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institute in 2019 and 2020.
