Wolfger Bulst studierte Kunstgeschichte, Archäologie und der Lateinischen Philologie des Mittelalters in Heidelberg und Bonn. Promotion über Herkulesarbeiten in der Kunst des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts. Er war Stipendiat und Assistent am KHI in Florenz sowie Assistent an der Universität Würzburg. Seit 1985 ist er Bibliothekar und Redakteur am KHI.
