Angela Rodriguez Rojas, B.A.

Angela Rodríguez Rojas studied Art History and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Cologne and the Università degli Studi di Padova, with a focus on modern and contemporary art, as well as the theory and history of photography.

Her research is concerned with the intersections of visual culture, memory, and materiality. In her bachelor's thesis, she examined the critical role of photographic archives in contemporary art through a comparative study of works by Oscar Muñoz and Christian Boltanski, analyzing how both artists engage with notions of memory, absence, and the material conditions of the photographic image. She is currently pursuing a master's degree, with her thesis research centered on the function of photographic archives in artistic practices under authoritarian regimes in Latin America during the late 20th century.

Previously, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Art History at the University of Cologne. In early 2025, she completed an internship at the Photothek of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut, and returned in the summer to join the institute’s library as a student assistant.
