Jacob Eisensmith, M.A.

Jacob is a PhD candidate in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at The University of Pittsburgh. He specializes in early modern cultural transmission in the Mediterranean world, with a particular focus on the cultural competition of Venice, Naples, and the Ottoman Empire in the larger Adriatic. He joins the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz as the 2022-2024 Samuel H. Kress Institutional Fellow. Jacob’s research is also funded by the Venetian Research Program from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation. His research has been supported by The Center for the Art and Architectural History of Port Cities at La Capraia, Naples. He received his BA from Rutgers University, and his MA from the Williams College Grad Art Program.
