Michele Tenzon, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Department Wolf (Minerva Fast Track Research Group)

Michele Tenzon is an architectural and urban historian. He specialised on the history of colonial and post-colonial Africa, especially francophone Africa, and his recent research focused on rural modernisation and on the territorial and architectural histories of extraction landscapes, from plantations to mining sites. He has recently published on the role of architects and planners in imagining a new countryside in late colonial and post-independence Morocco, and on the establishment of plantation complexes in the Belgian Congo.

Michele received his doctoral degree from the Université libre de Bruxelles, and an extract from his dissertation was awarded the Bruno Zevi Prize in 2023. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Liverpool, TU Delft, and the Université Catholique de Louvain, and was the recipient of the 2024 H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship from the Society of Architectural Historians.

At the KHI, he is part of the Architectures of Finance research group.
