Beatrice Spampinato, M.A.

Doctoral Fellow

Beatrice Spampinato studied Science of Cultural Heritage at the University of Turin (2011 – 2015). In 2018 she obtained her Master’s degree in Medieval and Byzantine Art History at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice with a final dissertation on The Last Judgement of the Church Kristos Antiphonitis, in Kalogrea (Cyprus). An iconographical and iconological analysis, under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Riccioni and Prof. Antonio Rigo.

Beatrice is a Ph.D. candidate at the Doctoral School in History of Arts at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in co-tutorship with the Aix-Marseille Université, under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Riccioni and Prof. Patrick Donabédian.

Her dissertation titled Armenian Architecture and the Romanesque: A New Perspective treats the Italian art-historical historiography concerning Armenian medieval heritage. She worked as an intern at the Byzantine Museum in Nicosia (2015), and she currently collaborates with the Centre for the Study and Documentation of Armenian Culture in Venice (from 2018). In the framework of her current research, she recently made a mobility term for research at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2021). She is a member of the editorial board of Eurasiatica Series, Edizioni Ca’ Foscari (from 2019).
