Yasmin Riyahi, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Department Wolf

In 2024, Yasmin Riyahi earned a PhD in Contemporay Art History from Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis on the relationship between art and the State in Rome during the 1930s, based on a case study of the Galleria di Roma and an analysis of the work of its director, Pietro Maria Bardi. She continues to collaborate on the activities of Sapienza’s Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea (MLAC), particularly with regard to the cataloguing and promotion of the museum’s archive.

Since 2024, she has been a research fellow at the University for Foreigners of Siena, as part of the PRIN PNRR project STRANIERE: the reception of non-European arts and cultures in Italy (1945–2000). Then, she has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History, working on a project on the reception of Palestinian art in Italy from the 1970s to the 2000s.

She is assistant curator to Professor Gerhard Wolf for the exhibition of the permanent collection at the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art – CAMeC in La Spezia, which opened in October 2024.

She has held teaching courses at the University for Foreigners of Siena and at IULM University in Milan, and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Studi Culturali (Il Mulino).
