Gerd Mathias Micheluzzi, M.A.

Doctoral Fellow, Marietta Blau-Grant

Gerd Micheluzzi earned his MA in Art History at the University of Graz. From 2016–2019 he was a Junior Researcher at the University of Vienna, supervised by Prof. Dr. M. V. Schwarz. He is currently working on his PhD project, for which he was awarded a Rome-Grant (OeAW), a uni:docs scholarship for outstanding doctoral candidates (University of Vienna) as well as a Marietta Blau-Grant by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (OeAD). His interests revolve around 14th and 15th century Italian painting, art theory, natural philosophy and literature. Besides various presentations, Gerd Micheluzzi has participated in a PhD-exchange with the Courtauld Institute of Art in London (2017), authored a paper on Taddeo Gaddi's murals in the Cappella Baroncelli (2015), a case study on the interplay of iconography and prayers at San Piero a Grado (expected 2020), and recently co-organized an interdisciplinary conference on medieval studies (Narrare–producere–ordinare, 2019).
