Cynthia Fang, M.A.

Doctoral Fellow, Samuel H. Kress Foundation

Cynthia Fang is a PhD candidate in art history at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Cynthia joins the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz as the 2024-26 Samuel H. Kress Institutional Fellow. Her dissertation, "Crossing the Alps: Information, Invention, and the Architectural Cabinet (1550-1680),” examines transalpine artistic interactions and collaboration among Augsburg and centers in the Italian peninsula. As an extension of her interest in early modern architecture, material resources, and designs, Cynthia pursues separate research projects that focus on transcultural connections between early modern Europe and China during the Qing dynasty. Cynthia received her MA in Art History from UCLA and her BFA in Painting and Art History from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
