Radio Broadcast
Seed Sounds
A radio performance as part of the annual celebration “Ein Tag im Grünen“ at the Kulturforum, Berlin.
Detail of Moritz Rugendas, Tropische Vegetation. Bananenstauden, Ölstudie, 1831 – 1834, Ident. Nr.: VIII E. 2472, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Kupferstichkabinett / Volker-H. Schneider.
The process of broadcasting, the sowing and distributing of plant seeds, gave its name to the dispersal of radio waves. But how do seeds spread in archives and museums? Artists Kate Donovan and Marcus Stein trace the sounds of wild banana seeds in the Phonogram Archive of the Ethnological Museum, Berlin. The radio broadcast is in English. BYOR – Bring your own radio.
