Accessibility at Events

The Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut is committed to making its events as accessible as possible.

As some of our venues are located in historic buildings, architectural and conservation-related constraints limit accessibility in certain areas. We nevertheless strive to provide the best possible access and assistance to all visitors. Below you will find information about the accessibility of our different venues. If you have specific accessibility needs or require assistance, please contact us in advance at info@khi.fi.it.

Via dei Servi 51, Palazzo Grifoni – Conference Room

The building opens approximately fifteen minutes before the beginning of each event. A member of the KHI staff will usually be present at the entrance on Via dei Servi 51. If the door is closed, please ring the bell marked “Photothek.”

The conference room is located on the first floor. It can be reached via three steps at the entrance and either a large staircase or an elevator. Please note that the elevator is not large enough to accommodate all types of wheelchairs. Wheelchair access is possible through an alternative entrance from Piazza della Santissima Annunziata; however, advance notice is required so that we can provide assistance.

Please note that there is no fully accessible restroom in the building. The restroom on the ground floor has a door width of approximately 100 cm, but does not provide sufficient maneuvering space for wheelchairs and is not equipped with grab bars.

During all events, KHI staff members are available to assist visitors at the entrance and in the conference room and to provide guidance through the building.

Via Gustavo Modena 13 – Seminar Room (M020) and Meeting Room (M021)

The main entrance to the building is equipped with a ramp and is accessible for wheelchair users.

Both event spaces are located on the ground floor and can be reached either via a platform lift or by climbing four steps.

An accessible restroom is available on the ground floor in close proximity to both event spaces.

Via Giuseppe Giusti 49, Casa Zuccari – Sala Terrena

The main entrance on Via Giuseppe Giusti 49 is reached through a narrow corridor with a width of approximately 60 cm. For most public events, an alternative and wider entrance around the corner on Via Gino Capponi will be open. The Sala Terrena is located on the ground floor.

An accessible restroom is available on the ground floor near the event space.
