Julia Tarling, M.A.

Julia Tarling is a PhD candidate in the Department of Art History at the University of Heidelberg. Her dissertation project, supervised by Prof. Dr. Henry Keazor, deals critically with the concept of posthumanism and how to apply it to art history in terms of contemporary and historical art works and methods for the discipline. She joins the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz with a long-term scholarship (2025–2028) offered by the Landesgraduiertenförderung Baden-Württemberg.
Julia received her B.A. in Art History, while also studying at the Sorbonne Université in Paris, from the University of Heidelberg in 2021 and her M.A. in Art History and Museology from the École du Louvre in Paris and the University of Heidelberg, while also studying at the University of Florence. From 2023 to 2025 she worked as a tutor at the University of Heidelberg teaching iconography, materials and techniques of art works, and scientific working methods to Bachelor students of Art History.
