Jessica N. Richardson, Ph.D.

Jessica N. Richardson received an MA in the History of Art from the University of Washington and an MA and PhD at the Courtauld Institute of Art. She has been a Research Associate at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, the National Gallery of Art (Washington) and Ahmanson Fellow at Villa I Tatti / The Harvard University for Italian Renaissance Studies. Her publications and current research interests lie at the crossroads between medieval and Renaissance visual culture, with a particular emphasis on the dynamic nature of images, in their agency across time, in their site specificity, in their mobility and in the interactions between different media. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Art History and Gesta, and she recently co-edited the book Remembering the Middle Ages in Early Modern Italy (2015). In addition to the above-mentioned institutions, her research has been supported by the Robert Lehman Foundation, the UK government, the Istituto Universitario Oldandese di Storia dell'Arte, the University of London Central Research Fund, the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, the Kress Foundation, and the Italian Art Society. She has been a Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Collaborator at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wolf, and is currently Wissenschaftliche Assistentin in the same department.
