Robert Brennan, PhD
Robert Brennan earned an MA (2010) and PhD (2016) from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, with a dissertation titled "Painting as a 'modern art': the era of Giotto." He studied meanwhile at the Goethe-Institut in Berlin, the Latin-Greek Institute at the City University of New York, and the International Studies Institute, Palazzo Rucellai, Florence. He taught at NYU from 2013-16 and worked as a research assistant in the drawings department at The Morgan Library & Museum, New York, from 2015-16.
Since June 2016 Robert has been a postdoctoral fellow under the directorship of Alessandro Nova at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut, working on the project "Languages of Art History." His article titled "The exhibition between cult and market: the case of Dürer's Heller altarpiece" has been accepted for publication by RES – Anthropology and Aesthetics (pending scheduling).
