Curriculum Vitae

Hannah Baader is Permanent Senior Research Scholar at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz - Max-Planck-Institut. Since Sept. 2009 she is Co-director of the Research program "Art, Space, Mobility in Early Ages of Globalization. The Mediterranean, Central Asia and The Indian Subcontinent 400-1650", co-financed by the Getty Foundation, together with Gerhard Wolf and Avinoam Shalem. She is also Co-director of the Research and Fellowship program "Connceting Art Histories in the Museum. The Mediterranenan and Asia", KHI Florence together with the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. From 2007-2012 she was heading the Minerva Research Group "Kunst und die Kultivierung der Natur/Art and the Cultivation of Nature". She worked in Rome at the Bibliotheca Hertziana and holds a PhD from the Freie University Berlin (2002) on Renaissance Portraiture and Friendship. She is involved in running the Max-Planck Partner Group, headed by Kavita Singh: "The Temple and the Museum". Her current research project is on Maritime Dimsions of Premodern Global Exchange Processes, the Arts and the Iconology of the Sea.
