Dr. Hannah Baader
W2-Forschungsgruppenleiterin und Programmdirektorin 4A_Lab
Hannah Baader arbeitet als Wissenschaftlerin (Permanent Senior Research Fellow, Research Group Leader) am Kunsthistorischen Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut, wo sie die Forschungsgruppe Transregionale Kunstgeschichte / Transregional Art Histories. Spaces, Actors, Ecologies leitet.
Sie studierte Kunstgeschichte, Rechtswissenschaft und Philosophie in Berlin und Wien und erhielt ihren Doktor von der Freien Universität Berlin (2002). Vor ihrer Verpflichtung am Kunsthistorischen Institut in Florenz (seit 2004) unterrichtete sie an der Freien Universität Berlin und forschte an der Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rom, Max-Planck-Institut (2002–2003). Gastaufenthalte führten sie an das Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte in Berlin (2007), an das Getty Research Institut in Los Angeles (2014 und 2016). Sie erhielt Einladungen als Gastprofessorin an das Exzellent Cluster Asia and Europe in a Global Context der Universität Heidelberg (2017) sowie an die Universität Zürich (2017). 2020 wird sie Gast der DFG-Forschergruppe Imaginarien der Kraft an der Universität Hamburg sein.
Zusammen mit Avinoam Shalem und Gerhard Wolf wurde sie für Art, Space and Mobility in Early Ages of Globalization von der Getty Foundation durch eine großzügige Förderung ausgezeichnet (2010-2015); für das von ihr und Gerhard Wolf entwickelte Forschungsprogramm Art Histories and Aesthetic Practices am Forum Transregionale Studien wurde sie vom Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung gefördert (2013-2019).
Gegenwärtig leitet sie das 4A_Lab in Berlin, ein Forschungs- und Fellowshipprogramm der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Kooperation mit der Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz.
Bevorstehende Publikationen beinhalten eine Monografie zur Ikonologie des Meeres in der frühen Neuzeit und Art and Ecology, herausgegeben mit Sugata Ray und Gerhard Wolf (New York: De Gruyter, 2021).
