Hilde in Italy
Art and life in the photographs of Hilde Lotz-Bauer

Edited by Federica Kappler, Corinna Lotz

‘Hilde in Italy’ is the first deeply researched display of the work of German photographer and art historian Hilde Lotz-Bauer between 1934-1943. She was a true pioneer of ‘street photography’ but also the first professional photographer at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome and later at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (KHI) where her impeccable images of sculpture, drawings and architecture are preserved.
