The Jacob Burckhardt prize has been awarded to promising young scholars since 2004. It consists of a three-month research period at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz , which includes an invitation to give a public lecture and to publish an essay in the Institute’s periodical. The first recipient of the Jacob Burckhardt prize was Slovenian art historian Stanko Kokole. The prize was made possible by the Verein zur Förderung des Kunsthistorischen Instituts in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut (Registered Society for the Promotion of German Art History Institute in Florence).
