Databases
Within the Institute itself, library users have access to databases licensed by the Institute or the MPG (Max Planck Society) and to those available freely on the internet, this via the DBIS database information system operated by the University Library of Regensburg.

e-Journals
Library users also have access to academic full text journals via the EZB (Electronic Periodicals Library) within the Institute. These include the range of periodicals licensed by the Institute, almost all the titles included in the Max Planck Society’s licensing subscription and those journals which are freely available on the internet itself.

Portals

arthistoricum.net
As a central specialist portal, the virtual specialist library of art history, or arthistoricum.net, provides access to a diverse range of information on the subject of art history. This information includes catalogues, databases, full text collections, internet resources, thematic portals, reviews and much more. The portal’s modular design is conducive to mutual maintenance and continual service upgrades. The library of the Kunsthistorisches Institut is actively involved in this initiative.

Max Planck Virtual Library
The Max Planck Virtual Library, or VLib, is an academic information portal operated by the Max Planck Society, which provides access to all Max Planck Institute library catalogues in addition to external catalogues, licensed reference databases, reference works, e-print servers, etc., through a common user interface.
