Florence Declaration

With the "Florence Declaration – Recommendations for the Preservation of Analogue Photo Archives", the Photothek of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (KHI) wishes to generate a greater understanding of the inescapable value of analogue photographs and archives for the future of the arts, social sciences and humanities.

Only integration between the analogue format and the digital format can guarantee the fitting preservation of our photographic heritage for future research and at the same time creatively exploit the potential of digital tools. The KHI therefore calls upon the representatives of photographic collections and of academic and university-based research to show their support by becoming signatories to the "Florence Declaration" and in so doing to contribute to the preservation of analogue photo archives. The list of subscribers will be published on the website of the Institute and will be updated regularly. The right of withdrawal can be exercised at any time by sending an email to the address declaration@khi.fi.it.
